Pitmasters, as you can see i have created a new section, many of you here want to just post up a pic or 2 but not write a full recipe.
this section will allow for discussion around a certain cook someone has done but each cook having its own post.

for you to post please put up a descriptive title such as "Salt/Pepper pulled lamb on Yoder YS640" followed by the picture and a short description of your cook.

Should others want the recipe they can ask alternatively just a comment such as "nice cook looks amazing"

should you be asked for the recipe and would like to write one up feel free to do so, please crosspost in the recipe section should you elaborate on your cook for the benefit of members :)

Kind Regards

Beaver

We have such a forum at Smoked-Meat. Works pretty well, overall.

thats the one richtee!
its great to see all these posts about great cooks but i feel that people dont comment because they feel that comments take the post off topic.
making a monthly "what did you cook" just becomes an admin overhead and once again going back and forth through posts to understand who is commenting on what becomes too hard.
instead each post provides the recognition these cooks deserve and promotes interaction hence the change.

eventually (as wingman has pointed out in the past) we will move to categories however as this forum is still in its early stages the post count just doesnt justify doing this just yet.
once it becomes hard for a user to find or filter a post then it will likely go in this direction.

in any case, all feedback is definately welcome and i will be as transparent on why i made the changes as possible :)

Great idea Beaver, I really like this idea. Much better than a single large thread.

Yeah, while that category has had unbelievable success over in the Aussie BBQ forum of What Did You Cook created by Buccaneer a few years ago, now into it's 10th part of about an average 48 pages each....I'd hate to try and find a particular picture now...and yeah in what category

I only began Pt 10 in April 21 and already 15 pages long.......things kinda get a bit lost.....

by the time this reaches it's 48th page, that'll be nearly 500 pages full of cook-ups.....god almighty!!

I've had thoughts of deleting up to the 9th part as I don't know if there'd be many look into past cook-ups even say into the last full pt9. and just have say only 2 lines going at any given time.

It has become a victim of it's own success.

Cheers

Davo

Davo

The main difference on here is that each post has an individual title, so it is easy to search on Beef Shorts Ribs etc. This makes it much easier to find what others have cooked.

Even better, the Smoked Meat forum has the same but then splits down to Beef, Chicken, Pork, Pizza etc, that adds another level, which makes searching very easy.

I've stopped reading the what did you cook on the other forum because it's hard to find stuff you've seen before but comments get mixed up with different posts. Maybe time for a revamp :-)

Yes Hector, I've actually posted on our general asking for feedback on this exact topic as I feel that not many if any people go into say Pt5 or Pt 2 so thinking I'd either do it in the actual category or just have the WDYC as 2014 then halfway through 2015, delete 2014.

When Buccaneer started it a few years back, we didn't realise it would explode like it had....so that's gives Beaver's & that Other forum (aussiecue) a better way of doing things.

Anyway, it'll be something to work on this year I guess.....just hope I can soothe over out of joint noses

cheers
