The Bangalow BBQ and Bluegrass Festival will be the first Australasian Barbecue Alliance accredited BBQ Competition.

The Bangalow BBQ and Bluegrass Festival features both a Professional and Amateur class, so anyone can enter.

The professional Class (separate to the Amateur competition) will be judged by accredited ABA judges under ABA Rules.

No lamb category Jay?! Looks like fun. I saw their Facebook a month ago plugging this before a format had been decided on. Will see if I can get off work

Yes, unfortunately no Lamb at this event. We're trying to encourage each promoter to have their own twist to keep things fresh for the teams at each ABA comp. In future we'll be doing our best to have Lamb as a mainstay.

1 Day Event
Two mandatory categories plus an ancillary category of your choosing. If you would like to introduce a category not seen below, please contact us.

Mandatory
• Chicken
• Pork Ribs (Baby Back, Spare or St Louis)

Ancillary Categories
• Beef Ribs
• Side dish
• Seafood
• Mystery Dish/ingredient.
• Chef’s Choice


2 day Event
Three mandatory categories plus two ancillary categories of your choosing. If you would like to introduce a category not seen below, please contact us.

Jay, will there be time to be accredited as well as compete as a cook?
I believe this will also allow cooks to fully understand the process of judging.
