Hi,

New to the forums and thought I'd reach out and say "Hi".

Have recently purchased a Kamado Joe to get in to all varieties of cooking it offers.

Specially interested in getting in to some "low and slow".

Thought I'd ask and see if willing to share any local knowledge on recommended places locally to get charcoal (currently going to Gilganis - anything better? finding a reasonable bit of rock and brick in their bags) and where you've found good local butchers who understand the American cuts of meat such as their brisket, Boston butt etc.

Cheers,
Andrew

Welcome Andrew. Haven't got a Kamado, so can't offer much help there.
As for charcoal, depends where you are.
Oops. Just noticed you're in SA. Plenty of Adelaideians here, so someone else should be able to help you out.

Hi Andrew,
Welcome aboard Mate.

The best charcoal I have found in SA is the "Lump Gidgee" and this is available at the Meat Market, 1076 S Rd, Edwardstown SA 5039

Cheers, Dave

The Asian grocery in the central markets by the food court have ribs with meat on them and fairly cheap too. I have also been getting my charcoal from the meat market.
