I'm in. Sounds like the organiser is really going out of their way to make a great event for competitors

Yeah... It almost sounds too good! I wonder what event it's piggy backing off? It must be... Can't see how else you'd subsidise an event?

I'm happy, means I don't have to pack a single thing except my rubs etc!

Hey Guys, I was thinking of singing up for a team spot, but don't really have a team. If anyone has a free spot on a team that they wanna fill, I'd love to fill it! Otherwise I might just sign up to be a judge.

Cheers

I'm the same, I don't have a team but if someone needs a +1, I'm down for the enjoyment factor of it. I'm not sure I can bring a whole lot to the table in terms of experience.

Got an email today to say the comp was cancelled. Hopefully something can be sorted in the near future.

as per communications to teams whom provided an EOI

Jess from ABA
Quote:
Hello everyone-

Let me start by thanking you again for your patience on this. Unfortunately, the Promoter can't support and run the event as described, and it's not going ahead at this time. Please rest assured that we are very careful about the events we sanction and whom we lend support to, mainly to do the right thing by our members and teams. I appreciate you all taking the time to express interest in participating, hopefully a more suitable promoter approaches us again soon - it's certainly a great indication of where comp BBQ in this country is going!

I also just wanted to take the time to reiterate, although I know a lot of you are already well aware, that the ABA is not involved or affiliated with the upcoming Melbourne Barbecue Festival. Again, I realise many of you were aware of this, but I am still getting inquiries from people on forums and groups about completing the judges class (that is not run by us, nor will it qualify anyone to judge at any currently scheduled Australian competitions in 2015) so it's certainly appreciated if you can clarify this when speaking to anyone who has the wrong information.

Cheers, and please dont hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions.

Jess

Over 25 teams expressed an interest. Unfortunately the promoter could not pull it off, but we're more than happy to help support and promote anyone who wants to run a Adelaide competition. There is so much interest it would be a shame not to see it happen soon. The ABA is willing to help in anyway we can.
