Had to put up a tent in the backyard. Piece of piss you'd reckon. Yeah right. Last time I put up a tent was at the 1990 Philip Island Grand Prix. However, apart from getting the top throw over part around the wrong way, it all worked, and half an hour later, it's still standing. Quite proud of myself. No girly instructions were read in the construction of this monolith.

Nothing like they used to be. I remember the tent we had when I was a kid. two poles, 8 pegs and a couple of ropes. Holes in the fly screen to let all the mozzies in. Bloody bastards!

Great job with this one mate!

Tents have changed since I remember. No poles inside or out holding it up. It's all them elastic fold out type thingies. From memory, the 3 man tunnel tent I had/took to the Island had 6 pegs for the base, and that was it. Main part went up and held up with the elastic poles, then the water proof cover over the top. This tent is sort of a bigger version. Probably a good one and I'd put it up better next time, now I know where stuff should go.

I've got a 2 man bike/hike tent that I bought for a bicycle tour 11 yrs ago and it's only been up once again since then....just to see if there was any creepy crawleys in it....it's been in it's bag for a long while.
The tent part is ok but the fly that goes over is bloody confusing as it's not uniform in shape as it has a large one sided covered storage area in the front....quite generous space in fact....it can be free standing without too many peg downs but I hate flapping tents.
It's about the size of Yaka's but possibly not as tall.

I'm kinda wanting to get out in it again....pack up my bicycle and peddle out into the sunset but have the tent up before Mozzie dinner time. Problem is...I dunno now if I can get down on all 4's to crawl into it these days....i'm a bit rounder since then..all that BBQ you see

I know how you feel Davo. Since that time in 1990, I swore I would never stay in a tent again, that I couldn't stand up in to get dressed.
