Well I changed my mind no longer have a YS-480 on order! I have changed the order to a YS-640 on a comp cart... :D

Whilst Dave at Grill Pro and Yoder in the USA were going through the final stages of attaining Australian safety and electrical compliance it gave me time to think, asks more questions and ponder my original decision to go with the YS-480 model.

I asked on other forums where there are good number of Yoder YS owners and with the odd exception the recommendation was go YS640. "You can not have enough BBQ cooking space" seemed to be the common reply.

One of the drivers for the YS-480 was a space consideration which was able to resolve by repositioning the the Weber 320Q and change of a utility table which I use for when the WSM is used. After all that I could just fit the YS-640 in.

Then there was that thought that I would regret buying the smaller unit.

Hmmm then there is the comp cart......I have justified that as the YS will live up against the house and under an eave which is quite low so I need to move the unit out away from the house slightly to let the unit smoke, heat and breath. I also like the idea of the stainless steel shelves.....bugger all that I just liked the look of the comp cart! I have gone for the silver colour finish not the bright orange....my conservative side coming out.

So I contacted Dave at Grill Pro and asked if could change my order......no problem whatsoever! Thx Dave...

The delay whilst Grill Pro and Yoder were going through the Aussie compliance gave me a window to do a rethink.....I am really happy with my revised decision....... :D

Fleetz

You made the right call - I like the 480 but only went the smaller model to get it upstairs!

Great call. The 640 is awesome, plenty of space for doing larger cooks. I love mine :-)
