Anybody else own a BSK?
Have problems keeping the fire going for low and slow long cooks. Use Gidgee lump.
Is good for normal roasts like leg of pork or a Turkey:
Thinking of purchasing an Offset Pit for this reason, to add to the collection.
I use a BSK.
In all the years I used it, I had a problem with a 4 year old bag of Redgum charcoal because it had sucked in moisture from humidity.
Now, I am using gidgee, and the only time I have a problem is after using it because of the huge ash volumes gidgee leaves. Red gum burns clean as a whistle.
Stir the charcoal well and get the ash out, clean the air holes and ash container and she is right as rain.
I use a hair dryer.
I've never used a draft control and I smoke bacon at 150-F.
I just unpacked a draft controller tho, new toy, so I will be playing with it but I have never needed it.
