Has anyone given this lump charcoal a try?

I noticed bunnings is selling this at RRP and was weary of purchasing on the weekend.

Doing 25kg's of giros this weekend and need to purchase a bag of lump charcoal.

I have used the charcoal before, i think its on par with the KJ charcoal but more uniforn in size. The KJ brand has a lot more large chunks which needed breaking up, the HB lump didnt. Gives good smell and taste and good heat, not sure it justifies the $3/kg price tag.

I just bought the heatbead brand lump for $38/20kg and gave it a run on the weekend. Results were good on the chicken i cooked. As good as the 2 abovementioned.

Anyway i will leave it to you.

Thanks for the feedback, I was pretty sceptical for the price and couldn't see anything else worthwhile at Bunnings so ended up going to my local BBQ's and outdoor in Thomastown and they have 20KG Mallee root for $35, ended up buying two bags.

See how it goes on the weekend as I have 24kg of Giros to cook on my charcoal spit.
