Has anyone attempted one of these ? Looks 'relatively' straightforward :?

Interesting read, and yeah, looks simple enough, but I reckon once you get all the bits from the states, it'll be easier just to buy a complete unit, function seems a little limited on this one.

Speaking of sous vide.....scored one of these on a USA Father'S Day special :D

http://anovaculinary.com/anova-precision-cooker/

Got the unit for $129USD delivered to my mate in San Francisco. Going over in about 4 weeks time will bring it back with me....it's the 220v version. Unfortunately if you buy this on line they add $50USD claiming this covers the duties, taxes, handling, documentation etc. at $229USD not that attractive especially as the exchange rate is not that favourable.

Interested in trying some smoked meats hitting it with smoke then cyrovacing and finishing in the sous vide.
