mrjack, i recommend the cylindrical one and you can get them from quite a few places.
every Yoder dealer stocks them as well as mistygully on e-bay.

tony from BBQ plus is easy enough to get one off and im sure his crew would be happy to ship if its out of your way.
If you are coming to Taste of Melbourne we can arrange one to be there for you

+1 on the cylindrical one. I have a 6" and 12" tube type so far only needed the 6" as a full tube provide a bit more than 2 hours of smoke. Any more than that and it is wasted.

I have the AMAZN stainless steel......they look like lasting a lifetime.

As Beaver said... BBQs plus has multiple locations across Melbourne...

I've been using mine with the pellet fuel from my pellet bbq, not the same... I would recommend buying 100% flavour wood pellets for it...

you find there is a difference?
i personally dont find its enough of a difference to buy the flavour packets although i do like the flavour of oak so maybe thats why.

That's right! If your burning oak fuel and throwing it in the tube your all set!

I have tried multiple times to go hard on hickory, used the fuel in the tube and found it diluted the flavours a bit more... I dunno..

All I can say is, when I used flavour wood in the tube, it tastes way stronger... But yeah as you say, if you like oak, stick to the fuel pellets no worries!

Picked up a tube today. First visit to BBQs Plus in Port Melbourne. Great little shop.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Hi guys,
Where do you place the Amazen Tray smoker in the Yoder 640?
First test I put it under the metal plate, and it burnt out ok (even though I was worried about lack of oxygen) and today I tried it in the main chamber, but it went out.

Thanks!
Dave

Put mine left hand side of the bottom shelf. Works fine always get a slow continue burn. I also put it in a small shallow aluminium tray and put some perforation holes from the bottom to ensure airflow. I use the tray just to make cleaning easier..
